First Meeting of the Pop-Up Idea Kitchen

October 2, 2018 - 5:30pm to 7:00pm

Why is there skepticism about science?

Between issues like climate change, vaccination, and GMOs, scientific skepticism is frequently in the news. What makes skepticism of science productive or destructive? Most importantly, what can we, as graduate students, do about it?

If you’re a graduate student and are interested in these questions, please join us for our first round-table discussion.

Who are we?

The Pop-Up Idea Kitchen fosters interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration about pressing issues raised by contemporary science. We bring together graduate students from the natural sciences and humanities at the University of Pittsburgh. After a series of meetings, we will have a contest for posters to submit to the annual meeting of the The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
