Our current reality makes it easy to "network" with others - though perhaps from a safe distance and perhaps without clear intentions. This workshop will explore the value of being intentional with building a diverse academic and professional network and work through practical ways to initiate and foster productive relationships. These new connections can lead to unexpected opportunities, innovative collaborations, and mutual success.

Dean Tara Meyer will present an overview of the nomination and reviewing process and discuss strategies for producing a compelling research statement. 

As Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies, Professor Meyer has three years of experience in helping oversee graduate fellowship processes in the Dietrich School.

Apply for a five-day dissertation camp from April 29–May 3 from 9:30 to 4:30 at the Writing Center, 317B O’Hara Student Center.


We provide the support. We provide the time and space. We provide lunch.
You provide the writing.

Graduate students with approved proposals are eligible to apply for Dissertation Camp.

Saturday, March 30 • 9:00 a.m – 4:00 p.m.

•    9:15: Writing Center Presentation: "Overcoming Resistance and Staying Well While Writing Your Dissertation"

•    10:00 a.m.– noon Focused writing time

•    Noon: Lunch Break
