Conference Grants During COVID-19

Presentations at national and international conferences and professional meetings are a crucial aspect of graduate students’ academic and professional development.

For the duration of the University's response to the global pandemic, all travel and all travel-related funding are subject to University of Pittsburgh and Dietrich School guidance.

Sources of conference travel support accessible to graduate students in the Dietrich School include those highlighted below:

A&S PBC Online Conference Registration Grants for Presenters: While University-related travel is restricted during the global pandemic, we are modifying our A&S–PBC Conference Grant program to help cover the cost of student presenters’ participation in online conferences. To be eligible, students must have completed 18 credit hours of graduate studies and be accepted as a presenter. The grant will cover up to $150 towards online conference registration fees only.  Eligible students will be considered for one grant of up to $150 for one online conference in AY2020/21, until funds are expended. For the application form see here.

A&SGSO: please contact the A&SGSO Administative Assistant at asgso@pitt.edu

GPSG:  Due to travel restrictions as a result of COVID-19, travel grants will ONLY reimburse registration costs if students are presenting, NOT travel costs (flights, lodging, etc.).

If you are receiving conference grants from multiple sources, you must communicate with each office about all sources of funding so that the offices can coordinate on a single expense report in the Concur Travel and Expense System. Failure to communicate about all funding sources will compromise your eligibility. Submit your packet with all receipts and documentation to your department first. If you are applying for funding through the A&S PBC Online Conference Registration grants, please submit your receipts and documentation to Katelyn White at kmw127@pitt.edu.. If you are receiving funding through A&S GSO grants, please contact Michael O'Brien at asgso@pitt.edu or visit http://pre.asgso.pitt.edu/awards-and-grants/travel-grant/. If you are receiving funding through GPSG grants, please contact the Graduate and Professional Student Government at gpsg@pitt.edu or visit http://pre.gpsg.pitt.edu/services/travel-grants/.
