Department of Music Graduate Students, Shuo Yang, Samuel Boateng, and Maya Brown-Boateng Awarded Society for Ethnomusicology Prizes

Three Ph.D. students in the Department of Music have received awards at the Annual Conference of the Society for Ethnomusicology. Samuel Boateng: African Libraries Student Paper Prize, recognizing the most distinguished student paper delivered on the topic of African and African diasporic music. Maya Brown-Boateng, Historical Ethnomusicology Section Student Paper Prize, for the best paper by a student that bridges the disciplines of historical musicology and ethnomusicology in a creative and insightful way.
