Using Digital Accessibility Tools

August 19, 2021 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Whether you teach an in-person or online course, any course content you offer digitally must be accessible to students with disabilities. This workshop explains what accessibility looks like in the context of Canvas and other methods of digital content delivery, why accessibility is important, and how accessible design can help all students, not just those with disabilities.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Create and upload accessible Word, PowerPoint, and PDF documents to Canvas
  • Create captions and transcripts for instructional videos
  • Format and design your Canvas course site with accessibility and usability in mind, using the accessibility tools built right into Canvas
  • Understand the assistive technology that your students may be using

Please let us know if you require an accommodation to participate in this event. Accommodations may include live captioning, ASL interpreters, and/or captioned media and accessible documents from recorded events.
