Music PhD Student Wang Xinyang Wins Major Composition Award

Congratulations to Wang Xinyang, doctoral candidate in Music, who has been announced as the winner of the 2020 Toru Takemitsu Composition Award, one of the most important awards in contemporary composition. Wang won the prestigious award for his orchestral composition Boréas. Born in Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, China, Wang Xinyang holds a bachelor's degree from Sichuan Conservatory of Music and a master's degree from Manhattan School of Music, both in music composition and theory. Listen to him discuss his approach to composition on the Music at Pitt Podcast.
